Brand refresh & website development

Contemporary Art Tasmania (CAT) is a leading Tasmanian art space dedicated to contemporary and experimental art. CAT invited us to refresh their existing branding to realign with their values and connect with new audiences.

The concept of the brand is centred around themes of unity, inclusivity and equality, which is symbolised by circles. Circles are present within the letter forms and some of the logo forms (there are a lot of fun things you can do with a circle logo)! The brand itself is dynamic, and we encouraged CAT to use it with interest and variation, to underline their commitment to diversity in a holistic way.

The colour palette is restrained, featuring black, white, and a (sparingly used) electric lime, allowing it to sit harmoniously amongst the artwork it exists to showcase.

Following their brand refresh, we set to work on delivering a new website that would showcase their various exhibitions and programs and house their extensive archive. We worked with them to identify pain points in their previous site, as well as finding general improvements and efficiencies throughout.

The result is a clean, minimal website with robust SEO, flares of personality, and plenty of breathing room to let the artwork on their walls stand tall.
